HEART OF WEST MICHIGAN UNITED WAY COMMUNITY IMPACT BUS TOUR
THURSDAY, AUGUST 11, 2016
1:30 - 3:30 PM
ALICE, a United Way acronym which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, represents the growing number of individuals and families who are working hard but struggle to afford their basic needs, like housing, food, child care, health care, and transportation.
39 percent of families in Kent County now qualify as ALICE. During our August Community Impact, we will learn about the programs and services being delivered to ALICE families through agencies that are supported by United Way. We will also hear about Promise Partners Mentoring Program, led by the Hispanic Center which is a peer-to-peer mentoring program. Additional partners includes the Cook Arts Center, the Cook Library, GVSU, and Ferris State University.
